Northeast population health management program

We study fishery species and fisheries, monitor and model ocean ecosystems, and provide reliable advice for policy makers. Our work promotes recovery and long-term sustainability of marine life in the region, supports both wild and cultured seafood harvests, helps sustain coastal communities, and generates economic opportunities and benefits from the use of these resources.

We strive to be objective and impartial, and to provide the best science available for ocean stewardship. We work with the Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office to ensure informed management decisions based on sound science.

Conduct ecosystem-based research and assessments of living marine resources, with a focus on the Northeast Shelf, to promote the recovery and long-term sustainability of these resources, and to generate social and economic opportunities and benefits from their use.

Understand and predict changes to marine ecosystems and their subsystems affecting living marine resources, fisheries, habitats, ecosystem condition, productivity, aquaculture, and the generation of net National benefits. Engage and interact with individuals, partners, schools, communities, and industries to facilitate information flow, to assure coordination and cooperation, and to provide technical assistance in the management of living marine resources and their habitats.

Our Ecosystems and Aquaculture Division studies the interactions between the environment and marine life to promote sustainable wild-caught and cultivated fisheries, and to conserve protected species in the Northeast Continental Shelf ecosystem.

Our Fishery Monitoring and Research Division provides services that help maintain productive and sustainable fisheries, recover and conserve protected species like whales and endangered fish, and support healthy marine ecosystems. Our Population and Ecosystems Monitoring and Analysis Division maintains a comprehensive data collection effort, including biological samples taken directly from fish and other sea life in our oceans.

These collections provide data used to assess the status and trends of fishery resources and the dynamics of the ecological processes that control resource productivity. Over time they are an index of the fast moving changes off our coast owing to human activities and a changing climate.

She currently works as an outpatient ambulatory care clinical pharmacist for Atrium Health in a variety of ambulatory care clinics and telehealth transitions of care services. Her clinical interests are many, but her passions include medication management of diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Nagy: Dr. Nagy joined the Carolinas Medical Center Department of Pharmacy in and transitioned to clinical pharmacist at the Behavioral Health Center in Her interests include transitional psychiatric care and stabilization as well as staff development and education.

Marino: She joined the Ambulatory Care Management population health team in In her current position, she covers the Union Region which includes 10 different primary care clinic sites. She works closely with her interdisciplinary team that includes a Nurse Care Manager and a Health Advocate, among others, to help her patients meet their health goals.

As a clinical pharmacist practitioner on the team, her primary function is chronic disease state management for provider referred patients, as well as management of system identified patients within our ACO. The team works to deliver high-quality care and to reduce cost where possible, especially in attempting to prevent inpatient admissions and unnecessary ED utilization.

She enjoys mentoring and precepting pharmacy residents as well as pharmacy students from various pharmacy schools. Phillips: Dr. Phillips joined the Department of Family Medicine and was appointed as a clinical assistant professor with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Her interests include pharmacotherapeutic management of anticoagulation, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

She is published and has presented to her colleagues on the local, state, national and international level. Robinette: Dr. Robinette joined the pharmacy department at Atrium Health Cabarrus in September He served as the acute care cardiology clinical specialist until February when he moved to the Heart Success Clinic, a facility of Atrium Health Cabarrus, to help manage patients with heart failure.

Sheehan: Dr. Sheehan joined the clinical team at Atrium Health Cabarrus in June She currently serves as pharmacy leader and residency site coordinator at Kannapolis Internal Medicine , a facility of Atrium Health, where she focuses on chronic care disease state management. Skaff: Dr.

Skaff joined the pharmacy department at Atrium Health Cabarrus in After working as a clinical staff pharmacist in the hospital, she transitioned into the ambulatory care clinical specialist position. She now serves as clinic leader at the Atrium Health Cabarrus anticoagulation clinic. Skaff also precepts fourth-year students on rotation from Wingate. Her clinical interests include diabetes management in primary care practice and complex anticoagulation cases.

Slovak: Dr. Slovak joined the pharmacy department at Atrium Health Cabarrus in working primarily in the emergency department. Her professional interests include administration, oncology, sterile processing and emergency medicine.

Steele: Dr. In , she transitioned to the role of Pharmacy Supervisor of Myers Park Pharmacy where she helps to lead a team of over 20 pharmacists and technicians. As the primary preceptor of the Outpatient Core Learning Experience, she enjoys working with pharmacy residents and giving them exposure to a b community clinic pharmacy.

Her professional interests include anticoagulation and caring for the medically underserved population. Wilkins: Dr. Wilkins joined Atrium Health in and has spent his career in ambulatory care.

He currently serves as a director of pharmacy, managing ambulatory clinical pharmacy services which includes primary care, transitions of care, population health management and value-based care. Special interests include administration, leadership, and practice sustainability. Clinical areas of interest include diabetes, anticoagulation, asthma, cardiac risk reduction and HIV. Wilkins is also passionate about the role lifestyle plays in chronic disease and he is certified in culinary medicine.

Woods: Dr. Woods joined the pharmacy department at Atrium Health Cabarrus in She is the Clinical Pharmacist Coordinator at Concord Internal Medicine where she provides chronic disease state management.
