I was a cab driver , didn't have much experience in anything but driving passengers. Getting to know new places and meet people all sorts of people on an everyday basis.

They can't even pick up at the airport. Working for Discount did not provide the stability or advancement opportunities I look for, but it did provide the ability to help those that need it and support the local community.

I drove for discount cab for 3 years and there management goes out of there way to make sure that you don't make a living.
The last year there I had to force myself to go in to work each day. They run to many adds on Craigslist and will replace you for any reason. They charge a lease, charge for every call that you take off the broad, even if the person is not there, make you gas and wash the car at the end of your shift and flood the streets with to manny cars for the amount of business.

The hours could be long or short depending on the day. The cars that I leased were in good order. The staff and management were not willing to help you if needed. You were on your own. Pros Hours. Driving a cab is fun if you let it be, you start your day about 6 am and from there you take calls and pick customers up and take them from point A to point B in a safe and timely manner.

During the week I would typically start at 8 in the morning and normally work until 5 in the afternoon. I enjoyed the changing scenery and loved the fact that I could pick areas that I could work.
I always found it easy to make conversation with customers and was always complimented on the cleanliness of my work environment. The most enjoyable part of the job was going on a run and staying busy. The hardest part of the job was seeking new customers apart from the company to sustain work during the slow times.
I worked with many different employees to cover work when other drivers were not available. I was an independent contractor so there was not really a management structure. When drivers had concerns we would bring them up, but to little avail, we had no one acting on our side. Pros Customer interaction, work a flexible schedule.
